July 30, 2022

On July 30, 2022, the Teach For Nepal Alumni Association (TFNAA) organized its first Alumni Meet at King’s College. The program was open to all Alumni. It covered FY 2021 Updates, an Annual plan for 2022, Membership Updates, an Alumni Stall Market, and refreshments while providing networking opportunities. In total 85 Alumni from the first (2013) to the eighth (2020) cohort attended the event. The event was very fruitful as it brought the Alumni community together after a long gap. In addition, the association also opened membership for 2022 to all the Alumni and presented its annual strategic plans and how the organization and Alumni can support each other moving forward. Ms. Rabu Ranjit was on hand to start the program. The event started with a brief overview of the organization, its mission, vision, and goal, which were devised by the board after a deep reflection and rigorous strategic plan process. This was presented by the Vice-President of TFNAA, Mr. Milan Kumar Sardar Tharu, highlighting the organizational structure and strategies. He also gave information centered on the annual plans for 2021 followed by an open floor session for question and answer with TFNAA Board Members. The President, Ms. Sristi Shrestha, and other board members responded to the questions and concerns of the Alumni. Discussion topics included questions and concerns related to membership, financial strategy, alumni support, and future goals.

During the day, the Alumni also had an opportunity to share about their initiatives and organizations at the event. The event was finally wrapped up with a fun-filled Alumni Bingo Game. The application for General Members of TFNAA was announced and opened at the event. The membership application was not been actively addressed for the last two years. TFNAA has therefore made the decision to revise the application process and has extended an invitation to all Alumni, including prior members and non-members, to become members. 59 members have registered as General Members to date which will remain open through September. To be a General Member, an Alumnus/Alumna must fill out the Membership form and make a financial contribution of NRs 1000/year. Alumni who have just graduated and have joined the Alumni community for less than a year are exempt from membership fees for the first year. As a result, they only need to pay Rs. 500 for the TFNAA diary. TFNAA commits to providing various benefits and opportunities for its members to build a strong, connected community that is committed to working together to explore possibilities to engage in meaningful ways in both discourse and action. TFNAA recognizes that Alumni offer a great diversity of talents, skills, and abilities, which should be acknowledged and leveraged for the betterment of the TFN Alumni Community as the Association as well.
