Every year under the leadership of second-year fellows and with the support of Alumni, TFN community members have been coming together during Tihar to celebrate the festival of lights through Deusi-Bhailo Program. This informal event is an initiation of Fellows and Alumni which continued to be passed on to the next cohort. Fellows and Alumni believe that this event gives them an opportunity to know each other better and build meaningful friendships.
This year’s Deusi-Bhailo program was held on November 5 where 27 fellows and alumni gathered for an evening. “The Alumni members helped us a lot with planning, networking, and finances for the program which was a success. It was a special event where they passed on their culture for us to continue.”, said Ms. Bhumi Rana Magar, Fellow 2020, who led the Deusi-Bhailo Program this year. Teach for Nepal Alumni Association played a major role in initiating the event this year.
The team visited five places this year which were Jawalakhel, Tahachal, Baneshwor, Kapan, and Gwarko. They started their journey around 12:00 Noon and went around celebrating for 7-8 hours. All funds collected from the event were later donated to Teach For Nepal through ‘Season Of Giving’.
